A left-handed starter with real pace can change the feel of a Diamond Dynasty rotation, especially when right-handed heavy lineups are everywhere. Brody Bumila's 96 Overall Draft card does that without forcing a huge spend on MLB 26 stubs before you've even played a few ranked games. He has the ratings, sure, but the bigger draw is how awkward he feels from the batter's box. His release comes fast, the ball gets on hitters quickly, and there's enough movement in the mix to stop people from sitting on one pitch.

From Massachusetts to the mound

Bumila's card is built around a pretty unusual real-life profile. He's a 6-foot-9 lefty from Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and he wasn't only known for baseball. On the basketball court, he put up more than 40 points and 20 rebounds per game during a state title run. Texas selected him 89th overall in the third round of the 2026 draft after an MRI showed UCL trouble in his pitching elbow. That context matters, because the card lets players use the version of Bumila scouts fell for: a healthy teenager with size, arm speed, and plenty of room to grow.

Ratings that play in close games

Velocity9999
Break9999
The numbers tell you why he holds up against both sides of the plate. His 105 Pitching Clutch rating is a real help when a runner reaches second and the pressure starts building. Control sits at 78, so you can't lazily aim at corners all night. Still, the elite velocity and movement give you room to work. If you mix locations instead of chasing perfect dots, he can turn a tough inning into a quick one.

Working through the five-pitch mix

  • Start with the four-seam fastball up in the zone.
  • Bring the sweeper across the plate after showing heat.
  • Use the sinker inside to right-handed hitters.
  • Save the circle change for hitters waiting on velocity.
  • Throw the slider sparingly, then use it below the zone with two strikes.
The four-seam and sweeper are the obvious headliners. Outlier I gives the fastball extra life, while Break Outlier helps the movement stay sharp as his energy drops. But he isn't a one-note arm. The sinker gives him a harder option near the hands, and the circle change can pull a hitter out front. You'll notice that his stretch-only motion also helps. It's quick, a little rushed-looking, and that makes his heater seem even faster.

A sensible rotation purchase

For roughly 5,000 to 6,000 Stubs, Bumila offers the sort of upside people usually expect from far pricier starters. Players who want to buy MLB 26 stubs can use that flexibility elsewhere, then add him as a strong left-handed option rather than stretching their whole budget for one arm. He may need careful pitch placement, but his height, quick delivery, and deep repertoire make him a worthwhile starter for ranked play.
